Levente Kovács
Chair of IEEE HS

Prof. Dr. habil. Levente Kovács graduated in electrical engineering at the Technical University of Timisoara in 2000 and received his MSc in biomedical engineering at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) in 2011. He received his PhD in 2008, also from BME. His research interests are mainly in the areas of modern control theory and physiological control, where he has published more than 450 international journal articles and refereed international conference papers. His cumulative impact factor is above 100, his h-index is 24. Currently, since 2019, he is the Rector of Óbuda University, former Vice-Rector for Education, and Professor at the John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics. He habilitated in 2013 with excellent results. He is a regular member of the Doctoral School of Applied Informatics and Applied Mathematics and of the University Doctoral and Habilitation Council, and head of the Knowledge Centre for Life Science Controls. He is also a member of the Biomedical Panel (TC 8.2) and the Control Engineering Education Panel (TC 9.4) of the International Federation for Automation (IFAC) and since 2010 of the Hungarian Diabetes Society. In 2015 he was the winner of the ERC StG, the most competitive research grant in the EU. He is an IEEE member since 2009, a senior member since 2018, the membership development officer of IEEE HS from 2010-2016, vice chair of IEEE HS from 2013-2016, and chair of IEEE HS since 2017.

Dániel András Drexler
Vice chair of IEEE HS

Dániel András Drexler got his master's degree in electrical engineering in 2019, biomedical engineering in 2011, and applied mathematics in 2014 at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME). He started his Ph.D. studies at the Department of Control Engineering and Information Technology at BME in 2009 and defended his Ph.D. thesis (summa cum laude) in 2015. His research interests are physiological control, nonlinear control, control of chemical reactions, robot kinematics, and singularities of robotics. He has authored 104 papers, has more than 600 citations, a cumulative impact factor of 27, and an h-index of 15. He has been a member of IEEE since 2016, membership development officer of IEEE HS since 2017, and vice chair of the IEEE HS since 2021.

Zsolt Csaba Johanyák
Secretary of IEEE HS

Zsolt Csaba Johanyák received his MSc degrees in mechanical engineering in 1990 and in computer science in 2005, respectively. He received his PhD and habilitation from the University of Miskolc in 2008 and 2021, respectively. Currently, he is a professor with the Department of Information Technology at John von Neumann University, where he is the head of the BSc study programme in computer science engineering. His teaching areas include computer programming, software engineering, and network administration related subjects. His research interests mainly include computational intelligence, software engineering and quality management related topics. He has significant research experience and practice in development of fuzzy systems for real world applications.

Anikó Szakál
Treasurer of IEEE HS

Anikó Szakál, studied at Bánki Donát Polytechnic and Budapest Polytechnic, in the field of information technology and education. She serves since 1996 in the IEEE Hungary Section administration. She worked as a mathematics and physics teacher in Secondary School and as Head of the Dean's Office of Budapest Polytechnic, John von Neumann Faculty of Informatics. Since 2002 she works at Budapest Polytechnic's Directorate and official in charge of international relations. Since 2010 she is the treasurer of IEEE HS.
