SAMI 2026 conference – Stará Lesná, Slovakia
The IEEE 24th World Symposium on Applied Machine Intelligence and Informatics (SAMI 2026) was held from 29–31 January 2026 in Stará Lesná, Slovakia, marking the start of a three-day professional event showcasing the latest research results in artificial intelligence and informatics.
Opening Ceremony:
At the opening ceremony, welcome remarks were delivered, among others, by
- Prof. Dr. Péter Galambos, Vice-Rector for Innovation of Obuda University (representing Rector Prof. Dr. Levente Kovács)
- Prof. Ing. Peter Mésároš, PhD., Rector of the Technical University of Košice
- Prof. Dr. Imre Rudas, Founding Rector of Obuda University
- Dr. habil. Dániel András Drexler, Chair of the IEEE Hungary Section
The speakers emphasized the importance of international scientific cooperation and partnerships between universities.
Scientific Excellence and Keynote Highlights:
A total of 154 scientific papers were submitted to the conference, of which, following a rigorous peer-review process, 117 were accepted and published. Researchers and professionals from 19 countries attended the event, underscoring its truly international character.
The scientific program was further enriched by plenary lectures delivered by internationally recognized experts:
- Prof. Dr. Alexandru Kristály: “Sharp Logarithmic–Sobolev Inequalities via Optimal Mass Transport”
- Prof. Dr. Amir H. Gandomi: “Evolved Machine Intelligence in Action”
- Prof. Ing. Zdeněk Bečvář: “Empowering Autonomous Systems with Multi-Modal Semantic Communication and Computing”
Awards:
During the first gala dinner, the symposium celebrated outstanding contributions and the future of research through an award ceremony.
The Grand Award was presented to Prof. Ing. Liberios Vokorokos, PhD. and Prof. Dr. Imre J. Rudas in recognition of their long-term dedication and exceptional contributions to the conference since its inception.
To foster scientific careers and institutional cooperation, the Technical University of Košice (TUKE) and Obuda University (OU) presented grant awards to the following research pairs:
- Lenka Kabošová (TUKE) – Dr. Viktória Sugár (Obuda University)
- Peter Ján Sinčák (TUKE) – Bálint Károly Farkas (Obuda University)
- Ivanna Betušová (TUKE) – Dániel Tokody (Obuda University)
- Kristian Sopkovič (TUKE) – Artur Istvan Karoly (Obuda University)
- Michal Demko (TUKE) – Attila Marczis (Obuda University)
Additionally, Special Awards were granted to Dávid Hriadel (TUKE) and Bertalan Beszédes (Obuda University).
SAMI 2026 once again provided a platform for presenting scientific results, increasing research visibility, and strengthening international professional ties.
