Between July 2–4, 2026, within the framework of the IEEE 30th Jubilee International Conference on Intelligent Engineering Systems 2026 (INES 2026) in Budapest, the Special Session on Women in Engineering and Intelligent Systems was successfully held. The session was organized and chaired by Melánia Pamuki-Puskás, Chair of the IEEE HS WIE AG, and Panna Zsoldos, Secretary of the IEEE HS WIE AG.

Over the course of the event, a total of 6 high-quality presentations were delivered, showcasing the outstanding results of female researchers and their co-authors. The sessions took place in a highly inspiring and friendly atmosphere, where the breaks provided excellent opportunities for valuable networking, collaborative discussions, and professional community building. The presentations attracted a diverse audience of INES participants, who actively enriched the sessions with their questions, constructive remarks, and insights.

The talks covered a wide range of cutting-edge research topics, highlighting the diversity and interdisciplinary nature of engineering and computer science. Several presentations focused on advanced artificial intelligence applications, including a methodological review of Large Language Models (LLMs) in medical imaging, as well as a study on utilizing LLMs to enhance curriculum design in e-learning platforms. The critical aspect of decision-making within AI systems was also explored. A significant focus was placed on biomedical engineering, featuring advanced research in medical robotics. Furthermore, tumor modeling research was highly represented.

Accepted papers and presenters:

The papers will soon be available in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library.

On behalf of the IEEE HS WIE AG, we express our gratitude to the INES conference organizing committee for the opportunity, to the authors and reviewers for their valuable presentations and feedback, and to Panna Zsoldos for her outstanding support in the organization and execution of the session. Special thanks also go to Dr. habil. Dániel András Drexler, Chair of the IEEE Hungary Section, whose presence and support greatly contributed to the success of the session.

This event has once again demonstrated that the presence and contributions of female researchers in engineering and informatics are indispensable, and we are proud to continue this empowering tradition within the IEEE Hungary Section.
